Lyrics
Christmas Is You Coming Home to Me
© 2023 Barbara T Webber
I remember when you stood in the line
Reviewing a list for your Santa time
You looked around at everyone shorter than you
I saw the moment you discovered the truth
And on that morning when you opened your toy
You smiled at me with a proud kind of joy
You’re miles and years beyond that scene but
Christmas is you coming home to me
The stockings are waiting for you to arrive
Even the paper one you made at age five
There’s the popcorn ornament you gave to me
Six kernels left but it hangs on the tree
The years go by then they fade away
I find myself counting the days
‘Til you walk through the door with your family
Christmas is you coming home to me
Now I sit in a house all set
Some of you coming, some not yet
But all are here in my heart
Christmas is you
There will always be room for more on the tree
More stockings, more stories, more memories
Someday you may feel these things
Christmas is you coming home to me
