As new parents, cradling an infant during a holy season, we heard the gospel narratives in a new and personal light. So began our journey of exploring Christmas as songwriters, parents, and pilgrims. We learned that the story of the birth of Jesus and his ongoing presence today is echoed in the journeys of the poor and migrants and the longing of those who wait in the dark for light to break. Our songs remind us that Christ often arrives unannounced—in borrowed spaces, in fragile moments, in the hearts of those who dare to love, and hope.
